Hello! I'm Amanda Berg, the owner of Berg Conserve LLC. I specialize in the conservation and restoration of natural history, archaeological, and fine art collections. I was trained in the UK, earning my MA in Conservation Studies from the University of Sussex through West Dean College with a focus on the conservation of ceramic and related materials. My training was uniquely hands-on, emphasizing practical skills in bench work and restoration techniques.

Currently, I work as a freelance conservator. This has allowed me to travel globally to dig sites, trade shows, and private collections to provide conservation and collection management services. I create official catalogues, ensure safe packing for transport, and provide recommendations for the secure storage of fragile and high-value collections, as well as executing practical repairs. In my business, I adhere to the highest industry standards, implementing up-to-date practices for environmental tracking, condition reporting, and collection management.

My diverse experience includes working as a freelancer focusing primarily on natural history (fossils), as an objects conservator at the Al Ain Museum in the UAE, handling archaeological collections with materials ranging from ceramic, glass, stone, and metals, to organics, and textiles. I have also worked at the National Museum of Ras Al Khaimah (UAE) and Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History in the Object Conservation Department.

Outside of work, I'm an avid ceramicist, craft enthusiast, and travel aficionado. I enjoy approaching challenges with a “how hard could it be?” mindset. I love a puzzle, and constantly seek opportunities for learning and growth, both personally and professionally.
