The object before treatment. It had fragmented due to inherent stress in the clay.
After surface cleaning, the object’s sections were bonded. Because the original damage was caused by stress in the clay, the break-lines could not be perfectly realigned without reintroducing tension into the object.
The cracks and breaks were then filled.
The fills were then painted to match the surrounding areas of the object. This completed treatment.
After repairs were made, the object was stable enough to stand on its feet again.
